Jay Challenge - Update on Day #1

I spoke with Shawn late tonight...finally! I know, I know, you were all on the edges of your seats all day, just like i was, right?

The first day of this 3-day Stage Race was the "Jay Crossover": a 26 mile (42.2km) paddle across Lake Memphremagog. Shawn started off really strong, keeping up with the second pack of racers, and said that he was feeling really good....until the 28km mark. His dang crampy muscles started acting up, he said that even his neck/face muscles were cramping and he pulled over to an island to stretch out. He rested for 15-20 mins, and despite some disappointment while watching people pass him, he got back in his boat and finished strong with a middle of the pack result of 35th out of about 75 Challengers.

Jodi did extremely well, he kept with the front pack and finished 3rd in the Challenger group!

Tomorrow they tackle the 32 mile (51.2km) trail run....Jodi is going to try and stay with the guy who won the paddle. This guy came in 26 mins ahead of him and Jodi hopes to make up that time tomorrow on the run. Shawn is going to take it easy, try not to get caught up with the 512 marathoners, and go for a finish.

Good luck guys!...more to come tomorrow night...
