Jay Challenge - Day 3!
I just spoke with a very tired and worn out Shawn.....here is the update on the 3rd and final day of the Jay Challenge:Shawn had a great day! He said that the 73mile Mountain Bike leg was probably the hardest thing that he's ever done, but also some of the coolest trails/best biking he's seen yet. They gained and lost about 14000 ft apparently, and the last 13 miles was all uphill, 7000ft. He played it smart, didn't have any cramps or stomach issues....And the best part is that he and Jodi both finished the almost impossible course! He said that he chased down Jodi for the whole race, and eventually caught up and passed him. He completed the course in 12 hours and I think that Jodi's time was about 12hrs20mins...they both made the cut-off time and were able to complete the whole course, no modifications. Shawn said that he took a couple of spills, one good blow to his helmet, and one to his shoulder, but overall his body is just completely drained.
They finally posted the results of the race...you can find them at http://www.jaychallenge.com/Html/results06/challengerDay3.HTM
Congratulations to Shawn and Jodi, they are both Jay Challengers!!

Hey Kristin,
Thanks for taking the time to post their dispatches--it's been an awesome saga to follow.
Happy trails!
well done! almost time to start training for it again next year.
Did you get the times and rankings yet? Was it as fun as you thought Shawn?
