Vacation 2006! - Vegas & Arizona

Finally some pictures from our trip! We had an amazing time, and hopefully we'll get to show each one of you ALL of our great pictures, as I can't post them all on here.

What did we get up to? We spent 1 day in Vegas, we didn't gamble a penny, but we did "hike" up and down the strip for 7 hours exploring. It was hot in Vegas, 30 C + at midnight kinda hot. It's amazing what man has built in Vegas, it's like Disney World!

The Strip

Ceaser's Palace

Paris!

We drove to the Hoover Dam on our way to AZ,...

...and then to the Grand Canyon. Wow, I can't even describe what a beautiful sight we saw as we walked up to the edge of the Canyon at sunrise. Literally breathtaking....The pictures don't do it justice, of course. We hiked from the South Rim to the Colorado River and back up to the Rim in about 7hrs.

The Scary Warning Signs

Wow.

Another Wow.

Our Stinky Mule Friends

We were early birds while we were on vacation (I know! Very odd for me...), the day after hiking the Grand Canyon we were up at 5:30 to hike into Havasu Canyon. This was probably my favorite part of the trip, it was a long hike with our heavy packs (about 10 miles i guess) but the waterfalls at the end were well worth it. The water was turquoise and the falls were just so beautiful; we felt like we were in paradise! Once again, the pictures pale in comparison:

Havasu Falls

Moony Falls

Navajo Falls

We camped near the waterfalls and the next day we got up at 3:30am, packed up our gear, and started hiking out at 4:30am in the dark...it was much cooled that way :)

Hiking out in the dark...spooky!

We were in our car and driving by 8:00am and we were in Sedona, AZ by noon! We stopped at Slide Rock Park along the way for some more fun in the sun:

That same night we drove to Pheonix to meet Shawn's mom Debbie. For the rest of the week we explored the Pheonix area, shopped, went horseback riding and tubing down the Salt River.

After the Gunshow at Rawhide!

"Smokey" and I in the desert

Oh ya! We got married at Rawhide...well kind of, it was only valid within town limits until midnight :)

Some of our favorite things that were consistent throughout our great trip: 1) the sun 2) the heat 3) the palm trees 4) the cacti... :

These pictures are for you Dad....those cacti are darn tough!

...5) the constant mountains on the horizon & finally...6) our rental car--a Saturn Ion!

My favorite is the one of you holding the guy hostage - the gun fight one.

Hope you are well. The blog looks great. I love the banner with the GC in it. KEvin will be jealous that I did not put that as ours.

I miss you guys.
