January 2007

You must be asking yourself: "What have Shawn and Kristin been up to since they rang in the New Year?" Well, despite the cold weather we've been keeping quite busy, here's a little update!

On January 6th Shawn, Jodi, & Mark ran the Cape Chignecto trail (50kms) in the fog, wind, and rain in 8hrs and 18mins. Here is a picture of Jodi taking a picture of the stormy Bay of Fundy...

On Jan 11th, the coldest evening in January, we (myself, Shawn, and Walshie, Shawn's new roomie) decided to get out on our bikes for the first time in 2007. Well that turned out to be a stupid idea...here we are recovering at the boys' apartment:

Needless to say, I was a little cranky about being so cold! :)

The next weekend, Jan 13/14 we headed up to Fredericton, NB to enter a "Snogaine": An orienteering race during which you had to find as many controls in the woods as you could in four
hours on foot, on bike, on skiis, or on snow shoes... We decided to run. It was a beautiful sunny day, chilly but we were warm and dry with our gear on. As you can see from the video and pictures we had a great time! We also came in first place in the team category :)

While in Fredericton we "cheated on Claire" and went to visit another baby we know: Tait Margaret Leroux. Her mother happens to be my ex-roommate and one of my bestest friends from physio school, Meghan! It was great to meet her and Johnny's new little girl, who was adorable and full of personality...I wonder where she gets that?!

On January 20th we went trail running in the snow at the Crowbar Lake Trail out near Porter's Lake (just 20mins east of Halifax). We did about 15kms i guess. It was a beautiful trail, and I can't wait to go back when the snow leaves us....running in the snow with my crappy sneakers kind of sucked.

Here we are before the run:

Thanks for checking in with us! I love hearing from all of you...

Coming soon: Pictures from my "mommy for a day" experience with Claire this past weekend...and hopefully some of Kevin and Shawn skate skiing in Kouchibouquac.
